BUTTER THIEF 1
Artist: Murlidhara Dasa
Child Krishna gave much happiness to the inhabitants of Vrindavana. He would go to their homes and steal their butter and
yogurt. They would chase after him but He would run away to the arms of his mother. If Krishna got a chance He would break
the pots holding the butter and yogurt and share it with His friends and the monkeys. Sometimes Yashoda would also catch Him,
but seeing His beautiful face, she could not chastise Him. For His pastime of stealing butter He is called makancora or the butter thief. Child Krishna's pastimes of stealing butter are mentioned in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, 10th canto, 8th chapter.
